Emilia Pardo Bazán was one of the most notable voices of A Coruña in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In her work, she referred to A Coruña as Marineda, a name that is still fondly remembered and commonly used by the people of A Coruña.

The Emilia Pardo Bazán House Museum is located in her old family home, a building constructed in the 17th century. It is currently home to the Real Academia Galega (Royal Galician Academy). Full of memories and personal objects, furniture, works of art and books, the house museum recreates the intimate universe of the writer, a space open to dialogue and cultural initiatives.

The house museum dates back to 1979, when it opened after the daughters of Emilia Pardo Bazán donated the building to the city. It then underwent major renovation in 2003. The permanent exhibition displays various manuscripts and other documents from Pardo Bazán's archive, together with first editions of her works in different languages and books belonging to her personal library, of which the Real Academia Galega preserves nearly 8,000 volumes.
