The Fine Arts Museum is one of the most outstanding cultural centres in Galicia. It was built on the ruins of a former 18th century convent. The building was inaugurated in 1995 and was designed by the architect Manuel Gallego Jorreto, who was awarded the Spanish National Architecture Prize in 1997 for this amazing work.

The Fine Arts Museum of A Coruña was founded in 1922 thanks to the initiative of a group of intellectuals, artists and art lovers from the city. The building opened its doors on 23 September 1947, embarking on its mission to conserve, exhibit and promote our cultural heritage.
The museum houses exhibitions from the 16th to the 20th century, in which Galician creators play a special role. The artistic journey ranges from the Spanish and European Renaissance to Baroque Rococo and Realism, passing through Costumbrismo - from paintings and sculptures to drawings and decorative arts. Works by Rubens, Sorolla, Luis Seoane, engravings by Goya and the Sargadelos ceramics collection are just some of the pieces you can see.
Today, the museum hosts activities such as workshops, conferences, concerts and temporary exhibitions, designed with all different audiences in mind.
