Expert ceramicists

Tradition and quality are synonymous with A Coruña. Textiles, ceramics, jewellery, accessories... The city is home to dozens of master craftsmen and women, with several generations dedicated to the same trade.

Here at the edge of the Atlantic, you'll find a multitude of workshops with not only a variety of quality products, but also a different way of understanding the creation of unique pieces. Come meet our best artisans through a tour of their shops.

If there is one thing that Galicia is known for - and especially the province of A Coruña - it's the spectacular quality of its ceramics. The city and its surroundings are home to internationally famous brands, such as Sargadelos, with a workshop in Sada (a few minutes' drive from A Coruña) and one of its galleries in A Coruña's Calle Real.

Sargadelos is joined by many other companies with their own headquarters and studios in A Coruña. Brands such as Terralume, Branqueta, Arobe Cerámica and the master Pepe Otero combine the experience of a trade learned from their roots with the desire to reach new audiences. It is not unusual to be able to enjoy their work live and in person by dropping by their workshops, which are open to curious visitors, and to get their advice on product care.

Unique collections

Another of the strong points of A Coruña's craftsmanship is handmade jewellery and accessories. Joyería Obradoiro stands out for its friendly service and for providing its customers with jewellery that has a soul of its own. With this same vocation, the workshop A Feitura has a unique range of products and is open to any type of commission.

And not only the creation of pieces, but also their care, is the speciality of craftsmen like David Rodriguez, third generation at the helm of Relojería Nemesio. In addition to restoring damaged clock mechanisms, this family business is responsible for the maintenance of the spectacular floral clock in the Méndez Núñez Gardens. Their handiwork is also present in the movement of the hands of the clock in the Plaza de María Pita.

Quality in every product

Haute couture? Handcrafted and from A Coruña. Javier Quintela Atelier handmakes fabrics with an exclusive, natural elegance and incomparable beauty for brides and big events. The workshop Artefíos is also linked to an occupational centre. With tremendous work of social inclusion under its name, has been crafting handmade fabrics for more than three decades.

We can't neglect to mention the sculptural work of Juan Silva, the creative painting of Nena Ventura, the leather creations of Chueco, the decorations of Volta Revolta and El Tigre de Papel, the book bindings of Códice and the spectacular guitars personalised by the hands of FranFret Guitars.

If you come to A Coruña during the month of August, you will have a unique opportunity to find the most exclusive products at the Mostrart from Artesanía de Galicia fair, which has been held since 1985 in the Méndez Núñez Gardens.
