The Afundación building, located in the Cantón Grande, is an avant-garde construction that simulates a great wave entering the Cantones. This is how the British architect Nicholas Grimshaw defined his project, known as "the Glass Wave". The building was conceived as an impactful socio-cultural centre. Exhibitions, events, conferences and workshops are held in this space.

The building has an auditorium, a multi-purpose hall, an exhibition hall and a small conference hall, equipped with the most advanced technology to hold exhibitions, performances, symposiums, conferences and a wide range of activities and workshops.

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awarded Grimshaw a European Award for this amazing work in 2006.
