The hillfort contains three walled areas where archaeological excavations are bringing to light the different constructions that you can see during your visit. The materials recovered from the excavations are studied and exhibited in the San Antón Castle History and Archaeology Museum, such as a set of gold jewellery known as the Tesoro de Elviña (Treasure of Elviña).

This protohistoric settlement was inhabited between the 3rd century BC and the 4th century AD. The walls divide the space into three areas. The croa, or highest area, is surrounded by a wall about 4 or 5 metres high, and small buildings are grouped inside it. The lower terraces have smaller walls and a variety of constructions, such as a cistern or well.

The hillfort has been listed as a Cultural Heritage Site.
