The Collegiate Church Sacred Art Museum

The Sacred Art Museum was inaugurated in 1990 and houses a collection of pieces that the Collegiate Church has treasured throughout history.

It houses magnificent pieces of religious gold and silversmithing from the 16th to 20th centuries, including a Eucharistic chest and a German Baroque monstrance, as well as pieces belonging to different schools of Spanish silversmiths, including chalices, reliquaries, altar cards and censers.

At this museum, you can also see the silver sacrament house donated by María Ana de Neoburgo, who spent the night in A Coruña on the occasion of her marriage to the last Austrian, King Charles II, in 1690.

The building, designed by the architect Manuel Gallego Jorreto to house the collection of religious silver, is centred inside around the staircase, which becomes the main element of the building, making the museum resemble a chest inside which jewels are kept.
