Rosalía de Castro Theatre

The Rosalía de Castro Theatre is a 19th-century building located in the heart of the city centre that hosts the most prestigious musical and theatrical events and shows.

This eclectic style building is located at calle Riego de Agua and has almost two centuries of history, since it was inaugurated in 1841, although in 1867 it suffered a great fire which meant that it had to be rebuilt in 1868.

The theatre changed its name to the Rosalía de Castro Theatre in 1909, and it was a venue for important events linked to the history of Galicia during the 20th century.

It has a capacity for more than 600 people and can host a variety of artistic performances in music, dance and theatre.

Rosalía de Castro Theatre and Picasso

Picasso attended performances of plays by Echegaray at what is now known as the Teatro Rosalía de Castro, then the Teatro Principal.
