A Coruña has six urban beaches and several other coves that are great for a dip, a relaxing walk, practising sports or just admiring the ocean. Do you know of them? Also, between the months of June and September, the days are longer and you can enjoy the beaches of A Coruña from morning till night.
Our city has more than two kilometres of beaches, which makes it an ideal place for sunbathing in summer and also for practising all kinds of water sports all year round: surfing, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, rowing, canoeing...
In the city centre, the beaches of Riazor (610 metres), Orzán and Matadero (a shared 780 metres) merge to form a shell open to the ocean.
More hidden away, quiet and sheltered, at the foot of the Tower of Hercules as you follow the seaside promenade, is As Lapas beach (70 metres), where you can relax with wonderful views of a millennia-old monument. Then comes the beach of San Amaro (100 metres long) which is located in the Adormideras neighbourhood, and on the way out of the city, in Os Castros, you will find the beach of Oza, where you can enjoy views of the O Burgo estuary with lovely views of Santa Cristina before you.
All the city's beaches are blue flag beaches, and they have all the amenities necessary for your comfort and safety. There are lifeguards, adapted access points, showers, toilets, etc. Some of these beaches also have establishments nearby where you can buy an ice cream or other refreshments.
